Baby steps.

  No, not Erzra... me silly.
It has now been over 2 weeks since Ezra has joined the family and I am starting to jump(gently) back into the game(that would be life). Since Ezra came into this world via C-section, I have been pretty slow to get back up and running. The healing process from a major abdominal surgery has been a lots slower than I would like. Not any slower than normal, but since I am not by nature a patient person, I was hoping to be tap dancing and juggling the next day(though I could not actually do either of those things before the surgery). Apparently, that is not how these things work and I am just now getting back to the very basics(like bending over, getting into my car without pain and going a day without major narcotics).
On a whole I would say that I am well on my way to recovery and the transition from 4 to 5 kids is going  as smooth as I could hope for. Luckily and thankfully,we have had TONS of glorious help. Our amazing friends, family and neighbors have come around us beautifully to help over the last two weeks with meals(2 weeks worth!!!), visits, babysitting, play-dates, laundry folding, home made baby blankets... the works. It has been wonderful. I can't imagine what I would have done without all the support.
Sure, I have had a few minor failures... like letting my baby get a sun-burn at 4 days old and my total inability to change a diaper without getting peed on. But I have had plenty of small victories as well. I have made it(mostly) on time to 4 doctor's appointments for various family members, attended church as a family of 7, made our first big social outing to a 4th of July BBQ yesterday, all with no major catastrophes. And tonight(this might be the biggest accomplishment yet) I made dinner for my family all by myself!  A new recipe even. OK, it was recipe from the back of a box of pasta and all the ingredients were conveniently available in the food isle of Target, but really, it was still a complete meal(and a fairly yummy one to boot) and it TOTALLY counts.
This week I have even bigger goals... like a trip to the grocery store, cleaning the bathroom, and taking all 5 kids to the park. Oh, and I suppose I might have to cook another meal or two. I will let you know how it goes.
