We will go back a week later to check-in and make sure everything is fitting well. After that we will have monthly adjustments with the helmet people(Hanger Prosthetics and Orthotics)and several appointments with the craniofacial specialists at OHSU.
For the first couple of weeks we will be watching very carefully for skin irritations and sores. We are supposed to expect him to be cranky and extra sweaty for 1-2 weeks as he and his body gets used to wearing the helmet.
I am anxious to say the very least. I know that once we get this started I will get into the grove and life will quickly feel normal... but right now I feel like I am about to jump blindfolded into who knows what. I am deep in that feeling you get right before you pull the band-aide off. How much will it hurt? A little, a ton, not at all...... the anticipation is always the worst part.
Wish us luck.......
